The world's best infrastructure connects companies with suppliers and customers to skilled and knowledgeable workforces in various industries as well as an advanced manufacturing base, Illinois excels in a variety of areas including advanced and sustainable agriculture, energy, IT life sciences and transportation logistics.



    Illinois has witnessed a significant foreign investment growth over recent years. Countries like Britain, Japan, Germany and China were among the top countries invested in Illinois In 2023, this amount reached over USD $13.2 billion in agriculture, manufacturing and other industries in Illinois all by itself.

    The Illinois Small Business Development Center located at Southern Illinois University is funded in part through a cooperative agreement between U.S. Small Business Administration, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Southern Illinois University. The Center offers local entrepreneurs with assistance for beginning or expanding their business through services such as free business planning workshops, one-on-one counseling sessions with expert Business Advisors and access to financing opportunities.



    State leaders in Indiana are encouraging employers to offer higher compensation and benefits as way of keeping child care employees in the United States as they face a shortage of work. This comes following the closing of a children's care facility in Bronzeville that struggled to keep its employees.



    Illinois Department of Labor also introduced an online tool to help small businesses understand the laws governing employment. Employers can search using keywords or browse categories on the website; and connect to appropriate state agencies and other resources.



    Illinois Business Development Authority (IBDA) is taking action to increase awareness about Illinois tax incentives for business expansion by hosting an online webinar on the subject. The webinar was recorded. The webinar will later appear on the website.
