French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

Melding form with functionality, French-door refrigerators have stylish double doors that open up to a spacious fridge up top and freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out because of their special features, like door-to-door dispensers and more expensive ice makers.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the best one. We looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency among other features.

The name of the series suggests that GE’s Profile series is aimed at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with them, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a smart water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive, so I expected better.

Aside from that blip, this fridge is a fantastic choice. It has a large freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth french fridge door door refrigerators. Additionally, it can hold a decent amount of frozen food when compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a rangemaster french style fridge freezer-door fridge at this price. It comes with a decent size freezer in the left side. But, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a the perfect storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is stylish, too. The LED lighting is an attractive touch. The in-door storage bins have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers have temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the plastic's textured coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere across the globe. It also comes with a lot of customization options. It will also send you notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the fridge or freezer requires defrosting, and when the filter has to be changed.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in a handful of other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to disperse at a time. The fridge displays a countdown timer to display how much water remains, but it's not as effective as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch french door fridge hitachi-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to look like a seamless piece of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment to keep vegetables and fruits fresher longer and has dual compressors for maximum food preservation. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and produces pyramid shaped ice using minimal water. This refrigerator is ideal for a small household or a kitchenette that wants an attractive design and top of the best food preservation.

This fridge was the top-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for several reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at a level that was just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit and never changing by more than a fraction an inch. This is essential to preventing freezer burn. It reached the temperature it was set within an hour, and remained at the temperature throughout our tests.

The app allows you to monitor and control your refrigerator remotely on your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive and has great features and functionality at a reasonable cost.

While the fridge is an amazing appliance but it's important to be aware of the limitations. It has a limited shelf space, which means you may require some creativity when it comes to storing large items. The shelves are also not impervious to spills and could easily be damaged or stained by sharp items. The trays can be easily removed from the fridge. However, they must be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great choice for those who need plenty of space in a small frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door as well as two rows of shelves for spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more space. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the nice things about this refrigerator is that its ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it easy to transfer ice into the fridge to use as required. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, for instance, sliding drawers to help you to organize the place of items. It also has a huge bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food and an additional container for storing ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. It lets you manage the refrigerator's temperature, lighting, and more using your smartphone. It's a nice method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily enhance the efficiency of the fridge. In fact, it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this fridge as compared to other fridges we tried. This is probably due to its larger capacity.

The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. They have handles that are sunken at the front, which allows smaller people to pull them open from the bottom, however they're difficult for taller people to guide closed without slamming the doors. It would have been much better if they came with a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those looking to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with a more efficient design. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a little less than the best counter depth refrigerator that comes with an icemaker, which makes it an attractive choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't cost you a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It has a simple design that isn't as striking visually like some of the competitors, but it has enough features to make it a solid option. Its most important feature is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is a nice feature. This drawer lets you redirect part of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, so you can keep food items that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire american fridge freezer french style. I've noticed that the generic settings work better than the specific ones.

In my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary much from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a good performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to a smart thermometer for more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
